About
About this column
A short note on what the site covers and what it leaves alone.
What this site is
The Puzzle Column is a small reading list for one genre: daily word puzzles. It looks at four games, shows what their playing fields look like, and says what to expect from a first try. The layout borrows from a morning newspaper because that is when these puzzles tend to get played. It is not a newspaper or news publisher, prints nothing and carries no news.
Who stands behind it
No company or person behind this site is named, and none is implied. The contact address on the Contact page reaches whoever reads the mailbox. Nothing on the site speaks for any game's developer.
Where the pictures come from
The desk, coffee cup, pencil and folded-paper pictures are generated illustrations, made to set a mood. They show no game content and no real people. Every other image is a screenshot of a game's playing field, with the developer named in the caption. Boards are shown mid-play and never reveal the day's answer.
How links work
Play buttons open the game's own site in a new tab. Those sites are independent, and their terms, prices and privacy practices are theirs. If a visitor uses certain links, the site may earn a commission at no added cost to the visitor.
What the site is not
It is not a games portal, not a gambling site and not a store. Game names and images belong to their developers. Corrections or removal requests are welcome by email.
Mistakes
Games change, and so do their menus. If a page here no longer matches what a game shows, write in and the page will be fixed.
